Small, textured and expressive, this semi abstract landscape is made from specially prepared sheets of painted papers that are ripped to create random shapes that are then arranged and layered to create the background for a landscape. Various mediums are used to create these papers – marks are made with various utensils – printing rollers, palette knives, kitchen items – anything that will make an interesting mark or pattern – pastels are grated or sandpapered onto the wet mediums and wax resist techinques are often use. Once the landscape background is glued into place, depth and contour is created by the addition of more mediums as appropriate. My aim is to create beautiful and atmospheric scenes.
