About the Artist
I began experimenting with Abstract art age: 18, and to this day, i am an untrained artist. I moved to London, England in the early 90’s to pursue my interests in art, music and poetry. I’m actively exhibiting in the London area, as well as internationally.

Much of the content of my work comes from everyday life experiences, put through a very personal filter: “It’s distinct, bold, aggressive & objective” – A journey into myself where chaos becomes order, then chaos again. As well as using the “traditional” method of pallet & brush, i also apply paint straight from the tube & use my hands. It’s an integral part of my style to incorporate any kind of technics & materials into my work.

I look at the piece each day and decide to add or destroy any section of the painting i may not be happy with. At times I dislike a piece i’ve created and love it the next day which is the contradiction, or paradox i would hope to create in others. My paintings have a unique nature to them because I don’t like to sketch things realistically. I like the intangible, the crude representations of human decadence. The images present in my work are pure abstract, but yet recognizable. I try to extract my visions using paint, pencils, collage etc…I feel like I am revealing my subconscious from within.

Art for me is the highest form of expression; life is not only about creation, but destruction too; about bridges burnt as well as built.  “Welcome to the world of Nuno Evaristo: maybe it’s your world too.”
