Benjamin Carr (Artist)
About the Artist
I’m a young illustrator currently studying illustration & animation at Kingston University, London. I work with pretty much every media, a lot of my editorial style illustrations are a combination of ink pen illustrations, water color, gouache, and Photoshop editing. I also like to work with collage using mainly found objects. I am a bit of a hoarder and my working desk always has several boxes of ephemera, as well as a huge toolbox of media’s and my trusty macbook pro. My illustration work in general tends to focus on high detail and patterns. I find that I work best when responding to a editorial style brief, and I like to maintain a tight regime of following these briefs, which I feel gives me so much more focus when I’m working on self initiated works. In terms of inspiration I could be here all night listing all the books I have by different artists but pushed to name a few Id have to say Ray Johnson for being the most absolute artist and the most amazing collage artists, Nick White, for showing just how good graduates from my uni are, and Monica Canilao for making such beautiful earthy installations and obsessively imaginative works.
